As part of the 2011 National Year of Communication, the trust willpromote both the importance of screening and workforce reform.
Anita Kerwin-Nye, director of The Communication Trust, said: "Screeningis essential but must start with all the children's workforce possessingskills and knowledge in how children's communication develops."
She added that while there is an obvious role for health visitors inscreening children, the EYFS offers a wider opportunity.
"Practitioners should be able to identify both delayed and disordereddevelopment more effectively with simple guidance on how to assessagainst the EYFS framework," she said.
