Nurseries: A free helping hand to boost business

Nurseries in need of finance and management planning are to be given a free helping hand in a new scheme to try and boost their businesses.

The National Day Nurseries Association has signed a contract with the Sure Start Unit to roll out the consultancy service in England because many nurseries have trouble breaking even, said the association's head of regional development, Patricia Jackson. "We are targeting managers and owners to help make their businesses more viable," she added.

The NDNA has 2,500 members but every nursery could apply for help, said Jackson. "It's on a first-come first-served basis and we can offer one-to-one help or workshops."
