The 500,000-strong Scout Association, which commissioned Mori to poll nearly 2,000 adults and released the results earlier this month, tops the scale in terms of public recognition of youth groups.
As the only non-uniformed association in the list, UK Youth has an overall awareness score of 51 per cent, with the Woodcraft Folk coming in last at nine per cent.
Derek Twine, chief executive for The Scout Association, said: "We undertook this research to establish a benchmark for our future marketing, following the adoption of a new visual identity, uniform changes and a revision of the co-educational programme."
He added: "The research is an endorsement of Scouting. It shows we have high brand recognition and are trusted by parents."
