Guidance on child protection has been published for practitioners in Northern Ireland in the wake of Lord Laming's inquiry in England into the death of Victoria Climbie.
The Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety has set out the responsibilities of agencies and practitioners in its Co-operating to Safeguard Children document.
As well as the procedures to follow when there are concerns about the safety of a child or young person, it gives guidance on sexual exploitation, bullying and abuse by children and young people. Record-keeping and disclosure of information between agencies is stressed.
The guidance is published on www.dhsspsni.gov.uk.
