News in brief: Trade officials in Edinburgh set to meet

Trade union officials in Edinburgh were set to meet after Children Now went to press to discuss industrial action, following the city council's decision to split children's and adult social services (Children Now, 5-11 May). In a ballot by Unison last week, social workers voted for strike action, but the low 15 per cent turnout prompted stewards to hold another meeting.
