Temporary exclusions from Scotland's schools have risen by seven per cent since the Scottish Executive scrapped targets to cut exclusions, new figures reveal. More than 99 per cent of the 38,919 exclusions in 2003/04 were temporary, and boys accounted for almost four-fifths of exclusions. www.scotland.gov.uk/stats/bulletins/00402-00.asp.
