The shortage of foster carers across the UK has now reached 10,000, according to The Fostering Network. It said another 700 foster carers were needed in Scotland, an eight per cent increase since 2002. This adds to the shortage of 8,200 in England, 750 in Wales, and 350 in Northern Ireland.
