Pupils studying GCSE science will learn "softer" science under a new curriculum containing "less science content" and a greater emphasis on how science works in everyday life.

Young offenders are being held in adult prisons that are reclassifyingindividual cells as young offender institutions. The practice emerged atAltcourse prison in Liverpool during the inquiry into the murder ofZahid Mubarek, who was beaten to death in Feltham young offendersinstitution in 2000.
