Edinburgh City Council has said that an internal audit of its child protection register has highlighted "areas where improvement is needed". Communication between social workers and their counterparts in education was good in only 77 per cent of cases. Also, 15 per cent of children did not have a child protection plan and almost a fifth did not have a chronological history on their case file.
