NEWS IN BRIEF: Derby Council needs extra money

Derby Council needs an extra 2.3m to pay private agencies because of a shortage of foster carers in the city. The council cares for 384 children and the number of foster carers fell by 28 last year. However, the department will benefit from a nine per cent budget increase to 57.8m.
