NCVYS director to walk 184 miles

Youth Work
A director of the National Council for Voluntary Youth Services (NCVYS) is taking part in a 184-mile walk along the Thames to raise money for youth charities.

Beth Parker, director of service development at NCVYS, was due to set out from the river's source in Gloucestershire on 21 October. She is expected to walk 18.4 miles a day for 10 consecutive days, relying on NCVYS members along the way for food and accommodation.

The walk is part of NCVYS's Beyond the Comfort Zone initiative, which is raising money for the charity's network of members.

Susanne Rauprich, chief executive of NCVYS, said: "We're really proud of Beth's inspirational effort in raising money through this challenge."
