NCB Now: Wavemakers wins award

Wavemakers, a new charity which celebrates the achievements of children and young people, was presented with the award of Trustee Board Of The Year at the recent UK Charity Awards 2004.

NCB is a member of the charity's award-winning board, together with the National Council for Voluntary Child Care Organisations and Contact A Family. Schools, youth clubs and the UK Youth Parliament were contacted and involved in nearly all stages of the evolution of Wavemakers, including trusteeship.

Wavemakers' CEO, Deborah Skillicorn, nominated the charity's new board of trustees. Commenting on the charity's award win, she said: "We are thrilled to receive this prestigious award and recognition for our exemplary board of trustees." Sally Whitaker, director of resources and marketing, who represents NCB on Wavemakers' board, said: "This award highlights NCB's commitment to working in partnership with other charities to promote good practice across the sector."
