NCB Now: VSS team stays connected

1 min read
NCB's Voluntary Sector Support programme works to help member organisations develop their expertise and experience by providing practical support in training, commissioning, fundraising and participation.

"A huge thank you to NCB for giving groups like ours an opportunity show those above what's going on, on the ground." Mums About Food

NCB's Voluntary Sector Support (VSS) team was delighted to receive this feedback from Mums About Food, a social enterprise based in Cambridgeshire that runs healthy eating workshops with parents and children. It encapsulates one of the VSS programme's main aims: to feed the expertise, opinions and experience of voluntary organisations that work with children and families to government.

Through its consultations, training and networking events, research, case studies, telephone calls and emails with children and families' organisations, the VSS programme continually strives to "show those above what's going on, on the ground". As a strategic partner of the Department of Health, the programme has a particularly strong focus on health as well as equality, but also works with government departments including the Department for Education, local government and health bodies.
