Cultural rights for every Scottish child

In January the Scottish Executive announced plans to give local"cultural entitlements" to every young person in Scotland. Cultureminister Patricia Ferguson said: "Under new legislation localauthorities will develop plans to ensure every young person in Scotlandis entitled to access cultural activity, reflecting the needs and wishesof local people and communities."

The February edition of Children in Scotland magazine is a special issuewith more information on the impact of the local cultural entitlements.In the run-up to the March conference Arts for all? Meeting the needs ofthe whole child in rural Scotland, it also includes a feature on a rangeof projects dedicated to promoting the arts in rural areas.
