The forthcoming public sector duty on gender will require providers toensure that gender equality is considered in the design, delivery andmonitoring of services and in employment practices. It arrives at a timewhen the value of fathers and father figures in children's education isincreasingly recognised.
Children in Scotland's conference, Class Dads: Involving Men in EarlyYears, Schools and their Children's Learning, will examine how localauthorities and agencies can provide better support for the involvementof fathers and father figures; explore how services can supporteffective involvement of fathers; and discuss good practice.
The conference, in association with Fathers Direct and the EqualOpportunities Commission, is being held in Glasgow on 12 June.
