NCB Now: Training to promote early years equality

1 min read
A two-day training programme to be hosted by NCB on 24 February and 9 March aims to support social inclusion and anti-discriminatory practice in the early years sector.

Designed by the Early Childhood Unit, Equality Matters enables professionals involved in the delivery of training to enhance their knowledge relating to equality and inclusion.

Participants will discuss strategies for "unlearning" prejudice and will look at how to implement action in settings that do not contain children from a range of backgrounds or abilities.

"To achieve the five key outcomes outlined in Every Child Matters we need to ensure that all children are fully included," said Sue Owen, director of the Early Childhood Unit.

"The programme will help professionals promote inclusion by raising their awareness of how discrimination affects young children and encouraging a pro-active approach."

The unit has also produced a leaflet as part of its Listening as a way of life series providing advice on listening to children about their views on equality.

- Call 020 7843 6441 or email training@ ncb.org.uk for bookings. For Listening as a way of life leaflets visit www.earlychildhood.org.uk.
