National policy and guidance has now taken up this theme, with the The Children's Plan, the government's Staying Safe Action Plan and the revised Safe to Learn Anti-Bullying guidance all highlighting a role for parents and carers in tackling bullying.
The Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA) recognises the need for a national event to turn these policies into practice and will be holding a national conference in London on 26 June, for teachers and other professionals working with children and families on how best to involve parents and carers in tackling bullying.
Sue Steel, ABA national manager, said: "This conference is a great opportunity for practitioners to explore how they can engage and support parents and carers to dea- with bullying that takes place in a range of contexts including school, community and cyberspace."
