NCB Now: Primary-age pupils face cyberbullying

According to research by the Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA), based at NCB, primary school children are becoming victims of cyberbullying and need help to protect themselves.

The survey, released ahead of Anti-Bullying Week (16-20 November), revealed that one in five Year 6 pupils surveyed have been cyberbullied while at home, with 22 per cent not knowing how to protect themselves against it. The results show cyberbullying is prevalent.

Christopher Cloke, chair of ABA, said: "Parents and schools need to be aware that cyberbullying is affecting younger age groups as more children get mobile phones. It is crucial that we ensure they know how to stay safe online."
