NCB Now: Playday 2008: Give us a go!

1 min read
Play England and its partners co-ordinate the annual Playday campaign, where people across the United Kingdom are encouraged to celebrate children's right to play. This year's theme is all about adventurous play opportunities.

Wednesday 6 August is Playday - the annual celebration of children's right to play. On Playday, and throughout the summer of 2008, thousands of children, young people and their communities will get out and play at locally organised events across the UK.

Playday events can range from small neighbourhood gatherings to large public events organised by local authorities and national organisations. Previous years have seen children taking over Trafalgar Square, holding Jubilee-style street parties, having large-scale mud pie events and den-building in parks and village greens.

Play is an essential part of every child's life and is vital to their development. It helps children learn about themselves and the world around them. Play helps children develop confidence, self-esteem and creativity.
