The discussion, organised by Children in Scotland's Children, Fathersand Fatherhood project, was shaped by 30 professionals from Scotland'seducation and health sectors, as well as representatives of children'sand parents' organisations. The duty, due to come into effect inEngland, Scotland and Wales in April 2007, will oblige all public bodiesto take gender into account in terms of employment, policy making andservice provision.
The outcome will help set the agenda for a conference on the duty'simplications to be held in Edinburgh on Monday 11 June next year. Theevent also saw the launch of the Fathers' Footsteps Calendar 2007.
