As he recently told Children in Scotland magazine, Scottish Labour's new leader, Ian Gray, intends to transform the party, win the next Holyrood election and develop a workable legislative framework for children and young people.
Gray outlined a vision that included "investing in our children and our young people; in their circumstances, wellbeing, education, skills and opportunities". He underlined the need to provide opportunity and prosperity through new apprenticeship schemes and an increase in workforce skills.
Gray's plans for a tight legislative framework also incorporate current debate around workforce reform in the early years sector in Scotland. He is supportive of joined-up working, both with his parliamentary colleagues and within the children's sector workforce.
