NCB NOW: New action plan on SEN launched

A Government strategy published this week recommends strengthening partnerships between health, education and social care to improve services for children with special educational needs (SEN).

Entitled Removing Barriers to Achievement, the strategy is being launched at a conference in Westminster on 11 February, at which NCB chief executive Paul Ennals and director of the Council for Disabled Children Christine Lenehan are speaking. The event forms part of a series of regional conferences to raise awareness of the strategy.

Both NCB and the Council have worked with the Department for Education and Skills in shaping the strategy, which, according to education secretary Charles Clarke, "sets out the Government's vision for giving children with special educational needs and disabilities the opportunity to succeed."
