Member briefing: Youth Alcohol Action Plan

The publication of a strategy to tackle excessive alcohol consumption among young people was one of a number of commitments set out in the Department for Children, Schools and Families' Children's Plan. The resulting action plan sets out the government's policy in this area, and draws on recent evidence to put forward a case for changing, or enhancing, its approach.

Proposed actions centre around five priority areas: enforcement activity to address young people drinking in public; taking action with industry; developing a national consensus on young people and drinking; working in partnership with parents; and supporting young people to make sensible decisions.
