WellChild Helpline has been providing a confidential enquiry service for anyone with a question about children's health. Most enquirers were parents, carers and children and young people wanting to discuss an existing health problem. But who can answer "theoretical" questions about a child's health, from people who aren't necessarily caring for a child, such as researchers, students, education and social care professionals and the general public?
The helpline has now merged with WellChild's Information Service. The combined service now boasts a multidisciplinary team of health and information professionals, able to answer any enquiries relating to all aspects of children's health.
Bernice de Braal, WellChild's information and policy manager, said: "We're now attracting a wider range of callers from all professional backgrounds. In our recent user feedback survey, 100 per cent of respondents rated the service as "good" or "excellent".
