We all agree that children's wellbeing is paramount, but it is a complex concept that may have different meanings to the wide range of professionals who work with young children.
The project is made up of four elements, the first being a series of seminars. Between February and June four took place at NCB and London Metropolitan University, designed to bring various stakeholders together to debate what wellbeing means for children and their families. There were presentations from experts, followed by table discussions on the concept of wellbeing and effective practice. A final seminar will take place this autumn.
The second element is a series of focus groups in early years settings that are currently taking place. These are designed to enable parents and a range of practitioners, representing a cross section of provision to explore what children's wellbeing means to them and what needs to be done to ensure it's prioritised.
