The Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000 requires schools to review and develop anti-racist policies and practices, although compliance is variable.

The disparity in the overall achievements of pupils from different ethnic groups increases significantly over the course of schooling. PSHE and citizenship lessons can help promote an understanding of equality that resonates within schools, and beyond.
