The DfES has published two new circulars aimed at local authorities. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in custody reminds councils of their responsibilities to young people in custody, while Handling allegations of sexual offences against children alerts social services to recommendations in the Bichard Inquiry report.
