New local authority circulars from the DfES

The DfES has published two new circulars aimed at local authorities. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in custody reminds councils of their responsibilities to young people in custody, while Handling allegations of sexual offences against children alerts social services to recommendations in the Bichard Inquiry report. Copies of the circulars can be downloaded from the DfES web site www.dfes.gov.uk

- TraNSForming Lives - Re-engaging young people through community-based projects

TraNSForming Lives, a good practice guide produced by the DfES, captures the evidence and learning from the neighbourhood support fund (NSF) pilot. The practice guide and a summary can be downloaded from the Connexions web site www.connexions.gov.uk
