NCB Now: A day in the life of a childminder

1 min read Early Years
My day starts at around 6.30am, I complete risk assessments and plan how to meet each child's needs.

I offer a pick-up and drop-off service to parents, I provide breakfast and take the children to school. I offer varied and stimulating resources to encourage child initiated learning experiences, and at 10.30am it's snack time, which includes plenty of fresh fruit.

The children have access to outdoor play, regardless of weather conditions, and I take every opportunity to involve them in community events.

At 12.30pm — if age appropriate, I involve them in preparing lunch, as I believe that meal times are important in helping the children's social and language skills.

I settle the younger children for a nap or quiet time and encourage the older ones to play. After school they enjoy singing or story time.
