"Getting A Better Deal in Nottingham" was hosted by the strategic partnership and led by Barnardo's Sherwood Project, in partnership with The NYA and film company Coracleworks. Forty-nine children and young people aged nine to 18 set out their main priorities for their active involvement in the services that they use.
NYA development officer Bill Badham said: "The first day helped young people describe how they were achieving in relation to the five Every Child Matters outcomes, through graffiti art, "voting with your feet", rap music, presentations and small group work. They then used Hear by Right to agree priorities for their involvement in services. The second day brought managers and young people together to plan next steps, with the adults giving clear statements of agreed action. The event ended with the young people presenting their plans.
