Myplace winner faces having its funds pulled

1 min read Youth Work
A 1.35m youth hub in Lancashire trumpeted by government as an example of best practice could lose its funding from the Myplace scheme if a land agreement is not secured in the next six weeks.

Last November, Lancashire County Council, along with five partners, successfully secured money from the Big Lottery Fund, the body delivering Myplace on behalf of the Department for Children, Schools and Families.

But before work can begin on the Bradley Youth Hub in Pendle, the county council must agree a land exchange with Pendle Borough Council. If this is not agreed by 31 March the money may be lost.

The Bradley Youth Hub is cited in The Children's Plan One Year On: A Progress Report as an example of "The Children's Plan in action".

The youth and community centre is due to include an internet cafe, a multi-purpose hall, space for group and private sessions, a fitness studio, performance workshop areas and a sexual health service.
