So it's a working day, which starts early with a live over-the-phone interview for the Today programme about a review I've written of out-of-court summary justice published today. Junior Home Office minister Lord Hunt responds. John Humphreys conducts a constructive discussion with no gratuitous polarisation.
Later I do other media interviews and start on my tax return, which for the first time I'm doing online: I'm relieved to find that it's pretty straightforward. In the evening we go to see Somers Town, which I like a lot. It's a short, bittersweet film about two apparently knowing but wonderfully innocent youths surviving, with smiles, in a brutalising environment.
