My life: Jimmy Winson, 9, Derwent

1 min read
I've been involved with Derwent Community Team for about 18 months. I go to community safety theme group meetings and I like going to events with my brother Charlie.

We like doing things in the area because we get to meet people. Irecently helped clean graffiti off walls and I've planted bulbs in thecommunity.

I go to Active Kids at the Gateway Centre, where we do circuit trainingand basketball, and I'm part of a children's gardening group calledLittle Weeds. I also go to Derwent Community School and enjoyafter-school activities.

This year, I've been part of starting the Gateway Centre cafe. My mumwas chair of the meetings and I asked if I could go with her. She saidthat I might get bored but I loved it. I had my own folder where I putall the minutes and people didn't leave me out of decisions. They evenasked me to open the cafe.
