I was surprised and excited when I found out I’d won Action for Blind People’s Actionnaires Member of the Year award. I’ve never won a trophy before, so it was special for me and my family.
I joined Manchester Actionnaires 18 months ago and was made to feel part of the group straight away.
My confidence has grown so much. I recently climbed a 40-foot climbing wall in Stockport, which was hard work but great fun. I struggled near the top, but everyone was cheering me on.
I now jump at the chance to learn new skills, make friends and love getting other members of Actionnaires involved in the sporting and social activities. We’ve done blind cricket, blind football and rock climbing.
After winning the award, Manchester City asked me to be a mascot at their Community Shield game. They’re my favourite team and they support my Actionnaires club. I walked onto the pitch alongside Vincent Kompany before they played Chelsea at Villa Park. I was so excited; my granddad used to play for the club and met my granny there, so that was a special day for the whole family.
I’m working on my entrance exams for grammar school. My dream is to become a physio-therapist at Manchester City.
