My Life: Aissatu Jalloh, 12, London

1 min read Education Participation
Since I gained my Mayor's Music Scholarship through Tower Hamlets arts and music education service, I've been treated like I'm special. At school, we're only allowed to play one instrument, but because of my scholarship, I was an exception and allowed to play two instruments - the cello and trumpet - because I played them both in primary school.

I'm mostly proud of my progress on my cello fingerings. I really wanted my fingerings to be perfect in time for my exams in July, but now I don't need to worry because practice makes perfect.

My scholarship gave me confidence to do a range of things that I've always been scared to do such as audition for the school play, socialise with older children and make friends with them. I've learned a lot from them, and I look up to the ones who lead a successful life and help me with things such as the school play, my music and homework.
