One of the most important things that children and young people have told us they want is to be healthy, physically and mentally, and to be able to have a healthy lifestyle. The health service has a critical role to play. In Every Child Matters we said that all children and their families should have better access to health services and that if they needed help or treatment beyond what was offered by their local GP, we should try and make that as easy as possible.
The children's National Service Framework will, for the first time, set national standards for health and social services. At the heart of the framework is a fundamental change in the way we think about these services.
