MENTORING: Mentor projects win 850,000

1 min read

A total of 850,000 has been made available by Home Office minister Lord Filkin. This is made up of a new 600,000 Mentoring Capital Grant Fund for 2003-04, plus 250,000 for 2002-03.

Filkin said: "Mentors can make a real difference to the lives of the most vulnerable people in society and help make our society more inclusive.

There are some excellent examples of schemes that work, and I am keen to see more people benefit from the support of a mentor."

Applications will be assessed by regional offices, which will also monitor projects. Groups can apply for grants up to 30,000 each but must show how the money will improve their project.
