Proposals on promoting the mental health of pupils in primary schoolsare due out next month from the National Institute for ClinicalExcellence (Nice), the NHS standards agency.
However, a blueprint for the proposals, which went out for consultationlast week, says schools should introduce a US-inspired programme, wherespecially trained teachers conduct lessons incorporating copingstrategies over 60 lessons.
The Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies programme also includesparenting support.
