Meeting the children who need a home

8 mins read Social Care Fostering and adoption
Adoption activity days give prospective adopters the chance to meet and interact with children needing new parents. Eileen Fursland attends an event in East Anglia to see how they work.

It is every child's dream party. A giant white rabbit is capering around the light-filled hall carrying a man in a top hat. You can clamber over giant foam blocks, crawl through tunnels and explore new toys. Outside in the sunshine, there is a bouncy castle and adults in silly, stripey socks helping to make dens. There is music, dancing, painting, balloons and, later on, a magic show. The air is filled with bubbles.

But this is a party with a difference - an adoption activity day that brings together children who need a new home with adults who want to adopt a child or children. A short time spent playing together this afternoon could be the spur to transform their lives.
