Project: Lyrics workshops
Funding: Provided by London Councils
Aim: Diversionary scheme to encourage young people to nurture their talent
A leading poet has been recruited to help young people on a north London estate make positive decisions about their lives and stay away from gangs.
Adisa, a performance poet and lyricist, will take part in the project at the Campsbourne Estate, located between Muswell Hill and Hornsey.
Run by arts venue Artsdepot, the project will try to get young people interested in exploring their talents. Cate Gordon, outreach officer at Artsdepot, says the Campsbourne Estate is an area of high deprivation. It has experienced plenty of antisocial behaviour, gangs and drug use in recent years.
