London schools take centre stage in youth crime prevention drive

1 min read Education Youth Justice
The London Youth Crime Prevention Board is launching a schools-based programme to stop young people offending.

The London Schools Programme for Safety and Cohesion, which is being piloted in 27 schools and pupil referral units, aims to turn young people away from crime. Schools will be asked to assess how they are keeping pupils safe and out of trouble, and work with police, youth offending teams and children's services.

The pilots will launch on 5 November with a final programme, based on their findings, set to roll out early next year.

The scheme is being run by the Government Office for London in partnership with the Metropolitan Police, London Councils, the Youth Justice Board and National Strategies for Behaviour and Attendance.
