London Play forms street play forum

1 min read Early Years
London Play is creating an expert body to oversee efforts to make the capital's streets safer places for children to play.

The Safer Street Play Forum will meet for the first time this autumn.

The forum will advise the play charity on its three-year Street Play scheme to make 100 London streets traffic free for a day to allow children to play outside safely. Professor John Adams from University College London and Chris Gitten of Streets Alive, a charity that organises traffic-free street events, have already joined the forum.

Paul Hocker, Street Play co-ordinator at London Play, said: "The forum will guide and advise the Street Play project to produce common sense advice for residents, parents and children involved in Street Play days to ensure road safety continues to be practised after the event, when the cars return."
