London: Council set up for LGBT young people

The LGBT Youth Council, aimed at 13- to 25-year-olds, has been developed by a steering group of 12 young people working with the Consortium of LGBT Voluntary and Community Organisations. The young people will now form the executive committee, which will have monthly meetings before elections at the end of the year.

The council will then enable a group of LGBT young people to engage with the Government's Commission for Equality and Human Rights. Gary Rowland, LGBT Youth Council coordinator, said: "Some people can fall into several equality strands so we will be working with the new commission on its priorities.
