Locality teams for Westminster

Westminster Council is to overhaul its children's services department to make it easier for children and families to access support.

From September, staff will be based in new "locality teams" in schoolsthroughout the area.

The teams will be made up of social workers, education welfare officersand health professionals, to serve small districts within theborough.

Stephanie Yeshurun, a social worker in Westminster who has been involvedin a pilot version, said: "We're picking children up earlier, so we findout what's happening before it becomes a child protection case."
