Many private and voluntary providers are experiencing problems, and by supporting these providers local authorities can meet their sufficiency duties. Part of the children's centre element of these funds should also be used to support the involvement of private, voluntary and independent provision in children's centres, to enable these providers to deliver services that reflect the needs of families.
This type of provision can also ensure that children's centres become sustainable without government funding, which makes use of existing provision and gives value for money.
In addition, while we are pleased that the Government has recognised the importance of supporting the private, voluntary and independent sector with 175m to support the introduction of graduate level leaders. The future remains a concern for many providers as there is no provision for supporting the increased wages this demands.
