It wasn't the sushi that swung it

There is an ancient Japanese proverb which, roughly translated, means giving birth to a baby is easier than worrying about it. Now I'm not in a position to confirm if this is indeed the case. Nevertheless, the proverb makes a good point. An attempt is sometimes easier than expected.

If you need convincing of this then read on. Despite recent press reports that the fast-track route of the government's Myplace funding programme was heavily oversubscribed, we've just heard in Southend-on-Sea that our application has been successful and our £2.9m scheme is going to be funded.

Of course, we had to work extremely hard to make our application stand out. And that meant putting in the hours, working late into the evening and on weekends to make sure we provided all the necessary information. But by working together with our partners and making good use of the distinct contributions each of us had to make, it turned out to be nothing like as difficult as we expected.
