But Brook's new chief executive Simon Blake says he is determined to bepart of the jigsaw. And he reckons sexual health is one of the bestexamples of how partnership between education, health and social carecan work in practice.
Blake takes over the helm at an exciting time. Brook recently launched arange of services in Stockton-on-Tees, which have joint working at theirheart. The charity's 17 existing UK centres are in buildings of theirown. But in Stockton, Brook will work with the local authority andprimary care trusts within existing structures, enabling them to providemuch more flexible sexual health services.
"We could never provide services to every young person across the UK,but we can lend our experience and provide something over and above thatwhich already exists," says Blake, excited by the prospect of this newway of working. "In Stockton they have identified particular needs andthen identified us as an agency that can help them meet thoseneeds."
