The Work of Ofsted, a report by Parliament's Education and Skills SelectCommittee,, welcomes the inspectorate's ability to take a more strategicview since it expanded in April, but expresses concern over the"increasing complexity of this large bureaucracy and the ability of itsnew non-executive board".
The report also urges Ofsted to ensure it engages service users andproviders from all the new sectors it is responsible for.
And the committee remains unconvinced about the effectiveness of theshorter, sharper school inspections introduced in 2005.
A spokeswoman for Ofsted said: "We are confident we will continue torealise the benefits of being a large organisation."
