Established in 1976, the Canal Boat Adventure Project, a charity basedin the Cheshire town of Halton, helps young people overcome the barriersthey face by learning using canal boats.

The five canal boats double as classrooms, where everything from dramaworkshops to poetry classes take place. The organisers believe the boatsprovide an ideal learning environment. They say the atmosphere contrastsstarkly from the children's daily lives; hence they have the confidenceto learn.
