Information sharing: Record sharing removes trust in sensitive groups

It's all about trust, to be published later this month, reports on the organisation's consultation with 71 young people aged 14 to 20 on the planned information-sharing index for young people, which all local authorities are expected to introduce by 2008.

According to Claire Phillips, the organisation's director of policy and research, the young people, consulted in focus groups, gave a clear message they would be put off using sensitive services if their information was shared.

Youth minister Beverley Hughes announced in April that sexual health, mental health and substance abuse should be defined as "sensitive services" on the child index, meaning that practitioner details will only be recorded with consent.
