The Government has so far spent 1.15m on developing the pilots, according to information obtained by Young People Now under the Freedom of Information Act. The money was spent between December last year and the end of September. But the 10 local authorities chosen to pilot the card say they are still in the dark about when the trials will start. Until now, secondees from the pilot authorities have been helping the department design the process a young person would have to go through when using a card. The project will be reviewed later this month on its viability and whether it is ready to procure services.
